Registration runs in windows, not on a rolling basis. Alliance Française Victoria lists every session with its own registration dates and a count of spots left, for example October sittings that opened in mid August and closed in mid September, so the moment a window opens is when the seats go. At our check on 28 September 2026, every TCF Canada date through 27 November and every TEF Canada date through 26 November was sold out.
Exams at Alliance Française are computer based and in person at 1218 Langley Street, on a QWERTY keyboard with headphones for listening and an on-screen keyboard for French accents. A Written & Oral sitting puts all four sections on the same day, anywhere between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and your exact time arrives by email about a week before, so keep the whole day free.
UVic is the paper-based alternative, for the TCF Canada only. UVic Continuing Studies publishes each date with a registration opening, a registration deadline and a withdrawal deadline, and holds no TCF sessions in summer. Both of its fall 2026 sittings, Saturday 3 October and Saturday 5 December, were full at our check.
Every Alliance Française registration is final. The centre gives no refund or credit if you cannot sit the exam, and it does not allow rescheduling or a transfer to another person, so confirm whether you need the TCF Canada or the TEF Canada before you pay. Results come by email, within about two weeks for the TEF and up to four weeks for the TCF.
Need special accommodations? Alliance Française says its Victoria centre cannot currently provide them for the TEF and asks those candidates to register in Vancouver. UVic asks for a recent medical certificate at least two months before the session, sent through its TCF coordinator.
How to book the TCF or TEF exam in Victoria

Decide which exam you need. IRCC accepts both the TCF Canada and the TEF Canada for Express Entry and citizenship, and in Victoria the TEF Canada is offered only at Alliance Française.

Create your Alliance Française Victoria account and have your passport number ready before registration opens. The centre warns that opening several tabs or refreshing the page can cancel a reservation in progress.

Read the whole session table on the TCF or TEF exam page. It shows the first 15 sittings and hides the rest behind a Show More button, and the later dates are often the only ones still open. Note the registration window printed on each session and book the moment it opens. Both exams are listed at $390, and members get 10% off the TCF.

If every Victoria date is gone, wait for the next window or look at Vancouver. For a retake, you must leave at least 20 days between two sittings of the same exam.

When do Victoria exam dates open, and what if they are sold out?
Each session has its own registration window. At our check on 28 September 2026, every Alliance Française sitting through late November was sold out. The next ones were in December: TCF Canada on 1 to 4 December and TEF Canada on 8 to 11 December, with registration opening on 6 October at 3:00 p.m., then TCF Canada on 15 to 18 December, opening on 20 October. How long do results take in Victoria?
Alliance Française Victoria emails results within about two weeks for the TEF Canada and up to four weeks for the TCF Canada. At UVic you get a France Éducation international account link after registering and see your TCF results there once they are released. TCF re-marking is suspended for sessions from 1 September 2026 until fall 2027.
