In Halifax, Alliance Française de Halifax at 5509 Young Street runs both the TCF Canada, at $400, and the TEF Canada, at $390. Université Sainte-Anne's Halifax campus on Spring Garden Road is a second TEF Canada centre, at $380 plus tax. Alliance Française is the only Nova Scotia centre on France Éducation international's TCF list. At our check on 29 September 2026, Alliance Française listed two TCF Canada dates in November and four TEF Canada dates from 23 October to 27 November, and Sainte-Anne listed eight TEF Canada dates from 30 October to 19 January 2027.

Alliance Française publishes dates 30 to 45 days ahead. The centre says it usually updates its calendar 30 to 45 days in advance, so an empty list can mean the next dates are not out yet rather than sold out. At our check on 29 September 2026, the 3 November TCF Canada and the 23 October TEF Canada were already full.
Registration closes about two weeks before the exam. Each Alliance Française sitting has its own registration window, and at our check they closed 11 to 17 days before the exam, for example on 20 October for both November TCF Canada dates. Do not plan on booking in the last week.
At Alliance Française, the TCF Canada is on computer and all four parts are taken on the same day, at a time that can change with the number of candidates. At our check the TEF Canada ran in a morning and an afternoon group on most dates. Your official notification arrives by email 7 to 10 days before the test.
Fees at Alliance Française are final. They are not refundable under any circumstances and the date is firm. A date change is considered only for exceptional circumstances, with documents at least 7 days before the test, and a booking cannot move to another Alliance Française. A candidate turned away on the day, for example without a passport, loses the fee and can apply again only after one month.
Université Sainte-Anne is the second TEF Canada option. It runs the TEF Canada in person at its Halifax campus from 9:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.: photos first, then reading, listening and writing on computer, then the speaking test in the afternoon, about 30 minutes per candidate. It lists $380 plus tax for all four tests, and a cancellation is refunded minus a 50% fee.
Results come by email. Alliance Française sends the TCF Canada certificate 15 business days after the test, and Sainte-Anne says its TEF certificate arrives within one to two weeks, while Le français des affaires, which runs the TEF, gives 1 to 10 working days. Both are valid for two years, and TCF re-marking is suspended for sessions from 1 September 2026 until fall 2027.
How to book the TCF or TEF exam in Halifax

Choose the exam first. IRCC accepts both the TCF Canada and the TEF Canada for Express Entry and citizenship. In Halifax the TCF Canada is offered only at Alliance Française, and the TEF Canada at Alliance Française and Université Sainte-Anne.

For Alliance Française, open its TCF Canada registration page or its TEF Canada page and pick a date in the online store. Your registration is confirmed once payment is received, and the centre also takes Visa or Mastercard by phone and Interac e-transfer.

For Université Sainte-Anne, fill in the registration form on its TEF Canada page, choose your session, add it to the cart and pay. You get a confirmation email, then a test invitation about one week before the session.

Have your ID ready. Sainte-Anne asks for your passport number on the form and the same ID on the day, and Alliance Française asks for your convocation and valid official photo ID. If you need accommodations at Alliance Française, send a doctor's note with your registration.

For a retake, leave at least 20 days between two sittings, the rule both centres state. If every Halifax date is gone, Alliance Française de Moncton also runs both exams.

How long do TCF and TEF results take in Halifax?
