Why this practice test uses progressive difficulty
TCF Canada is built on progressive difficulty: questions start easy and get harder as you move through a section. This placement check follows the same design. In each of listening and reading you answer two questions at A2, two at B1, two at B2 and then the C1 questions (one in listening, two in reading), in that order.
- Listening: from a short announcement (A2) to a dense news report (C1), each recording playable up to 3 times.
- Reading: from a simple notice (A2) to an opinion piece (C1).
Do not panic when the later questions feel hard. That is how a real TCF works. You reach a level when you answer at least one of its questions correctly and every level below it, and you see both skills, stronger first.

Can I retake the practice test to track my progress?
