Canada Removes Visa Requirement for Qatari Citizens

The Honourable Lena Metlege Diab, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship today announced that Canada has lifted the visa requirement for citizens of Qatar. This change took effect this morning at 5:30 a.m. EST.

Canada has eliminated the visa requirement for travelers from Qatar as of November 25, 2025, according to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This adjustment allows Qatari citizens to visit Canada more easily for tourism, business, and other short-term purposes. Travelers without a valid visa must apply for an electronic travel authorization (eTA) when flying to Canada. This change strengthens diplomatic and commercial relations between Canada and Qatar, supporting tourism growth and bilateral trade, which reached around CAD 325 million in 2024. Air connectivity between the two countries has also improved following an expanded air transport agreement. While this update does not directly affect Express Entry, it underscores Canada's ongoing efforts to facilitate travel and international mobility alongside managed migration policies. Qatari nationals interested in coming to Canada can consult the official IRCC website for eTA eligibility and application details.
