New categories are being introduced to support changing labor market needs, including pathways for researchers and senior managers with Canadian experience, transport sector workers like pilots and aircraft mechanics, and skilled military recruits with job offers from the Canadian Armed Forces. A dedicated category for foreign medical doctors with Canadian experience was also highlighted to improve healthcare access.
Express Entry remains central to Canada's strategy for attracting selected skilled immigrants who meet economic priorities. The government is committed to maintaining a predictable and balanced immigration system by working closely with provinces, employers, and stakeholders, as well as refining candidate selection and credential recognition processes.
These measures form part of a broader International Talent Attraction Strategy aimed at stabilizing immigration levels while prioritizing top talent to support Canada's economic and social priorities, according to IRCC.
