Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced plans to refine the Express Entry system in 2026 to better attract top global talent. The Express Entry pool, which manages applications for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Workers, and Federal Skilled Trades programs, will continue inviting candidates with strong French skills and work experience in health care, trades, and STEM fields.
New categories will be introduced to target researchers, senior managers with Canadian work experience, transport professionals such as pilots and aircraft mechanics, and skilled military recruits with job offers from the Canadian Armed Forces. These changes align with federal priorities in innovation, infrastructure, and national security.
Additionally, IRCC reaffirms its commitment to Francophone immigration, aiming to welcome over 30,000 francophone newcomers yearly outside Quebec by 2029. The ongoing efforts support employers by providing a predictable immigration system and aim to address Canada's evolving labour market needs through targeted selection and international recruitment.
